Highschool or college age, they're still young enough to be cringe. Kiku is obsessed with western culture after watching old wild west and cowboy themed movies, he thinks american sitcoms are accurate to real life in america ect.

Alfred is your typical teen weeb. He thinks anime is accurate to japanese culture and thinks all japanese ppl own katanas

And for buisness reasons, Arthur and Yao have to meet up irl for their jobs. After hearing that their parent is going to the country they so dearly worship, they beg to tag along
They let the kids. To their surprise, the other also brought their kid! Kiku and alfred are very cringe and alfred tries talking to Kiku in broken japanese he learned from anime, while Kiku uses outdated cowboy-speak and cant pronounce english Rs and Ls for shit

It gets awkward hella quick. Alfred's like "so you're telling me magical girls arent real???!?"

Btw they both brought costumes and wore them and looked stupid as hell thinking they looked fly

Like they take the cultures very seriously despite being wrong about everything and basing their knowledge off of movies but they learn and grow together

Like they gotta act stereotypical for eachother because that's how the other learned the language. Like Kiku has to speak cringe anime weeb japanese phrases for alfred to understand, and Alfred's gotta talk in a REALLY deep southern accent or else Kiku doesnt understand what hes saying

Alfred starts losing his shit and is like "aHAHSFHSHHS TURN THAT DOWN MY DADS GONNA BEAT MY ASS AGAIN AVJSIGSIGSGI"

He puts the lyrics through google translate to japanese for kiku

Like they both think they know the other language but dont, so theres this cute language barrier thing between them where they use the cringe speak and google translate a lot

KIKUS LIKE "I SANG THAT IN MY HOUSE". He is mortified

Then Kiku reluctantly looks up the wiki, and shows alfred the english translation and meaning of Gomen Ne Gomen Ne. Alfred cries.
