أى : سنبين أمره ونوضحه توضيحا يجعل الناس يعرفونه معرفة تامة لإخفاء معها ولا لبس ولا غموض ، كما لا تخفى العلامة الكائنة على الخرطوم ، الذى يراد به هنا الأنف . والوسم عليه يكون بالنار .
أو سنلحق به عارا لا يفارقه ، بلا يلازمه مدى الحياة ، وكان العرب إذا أرادوا أن يسبوا رجلا سبة قبيحة . . قد وُسِمَ فلان مِيسَمَ سوء . . أى : التصق به عار لا يفارقه ، كالسمة التى هى العلامة التى لا يمحى أثرها . .
عن ابن عباس : ( سنسمه على الخرطوم ) يقاتل يوم بدر فيخطم بالسيف في القتال . وقال آخرون : ( سنسمه ) سمة أهل النار ، يعني نسود وجهه يوم القيامة ، وعبر عن الوجه بالخرطوم . حكى ذلك كله أبو جعفر بن جرير ومال إلى أنه لا مانع من اجتماع الجميع عليه في الدنيا والآخرة ، وهو متجه
