I am suited to be treasurer because of my advanced experiences with math. As a big part of a treasurer’s job is to keep track of finances, it includes a lot of math, which is a strong subject for me. As a freshman, I earned an A both semesters in honors precalculus, and this year, I earned a very high A in AP Calculus AB and am currently preparing for the AP Test, which I am confident I will do well in. Also, I finished the entire Kumon Math program, which includes college level Calculus and more, by 8th grade, after 10 years of hard work.

I am also suited to be secretary because of my experiences in science and research. In the 2019 summer, I participated in 4 different science programs — 1 at UC Berkeley, 2 at the California Northstate University College of Medicine, and 1 Research Program through ASDRP in Fremont. I also have experience looking for, and applying for, good research programs. In the previous months I spent hours and hours applying for various research programs throughout the state and country. Although almost all of the programs ended up being cancelled, it was still beneficial because I continued learning more about what makes a good application for a research program, adding on the experience I gained the previous year. As the officers of the FPA help others in perfecting their applications, having lots of experience is very important. I also have experience with hands on research. Last summer, in the ASDRP program, I conducted a full on research project along with three other high school students to determine the effects of two extremely common food additives on cells. This project not only gave me hands on experience in the lab and taught me more about science, but it also taught me how to write a research paper and make a research poster, along with how to present a research project and various other skills.

Due to all of my experiences and knowledge on the area the FPA pertains to, I would be a valuable teammate for the other FPA officers and an amazing resource for the members of the club.
