Many countries suffer from a lack of water reserves. One of the possible ways of compensating for the lack of water reserves is desalination. One of the most widespread desalination methods is reverse osmosis. Desalination separates water from salt. it is a process used to produce fresh water. In this way, water is made suitable and drinkable for human consumption. The process of desalination through reverse osmosis consists of lots of steps that begin with a seawater intake system and ends with a waste outlet.
Firstly, the seawater intake system is placed at least 800 meters under the water offshore and it has a low intake speed for marine protection.
Secondly, Large particles are removed by seawater screening. After this process over, small particles are eliminated by seawater filtering. Thus during the seawater filtering, filtered water is formed.
Thirdly, filtered water comes to reverse osmosis membranes and it is desalinated here.
Next, water is analyzed for the last time to meet health regulations. Subsequently, water can be used for tap water.
Lastly, water is pumped the costumers by means of pipes. Furthermore, a waste product is formed in reverse osmosis membranes and seawater filtering. Then, it is sent to the waste outlet with pipes. In addition, the water at the waste outlet is one degree warmer than the seawater and it has more salt concentration. The Ecologist reports that marine life is threatened by waste products because of its richness in salt concentration. (2017)
to sum up, at least six steps are required to desalination through reverse osmosis which are seawater intake system, seawater screening, seawater filtering, reverse osmosis, water treatment, and pumped to costumers.

The waste product from the process, brine, is so rich in salt it is strong enough to kill marine life. It also contains chlorine-removing chemicals and anti-scaling agents.
