beauty contests are a very common thing these days. it has become a fashion to choose the beauty queen of the year in each city, state, country and the world. but the rule of the selected beauty queen is limited in the year in time and place. for example the beauty queen of this year will be forgotten during the next year. the beauty queen of one place, of shimla or california, will not be recoganised as a beauty queen in another place. we may have a beauty queen selected for each month. that queen will not be looked at when the month is over. all this indicates that all appearances are short lived. according to a tamil proverb, even the cow considers her young one to be very beautiful. a mother finds beauty in her child. others may not find the same child beautiful. this beauty may not be of face alone. this beauty may be find in child's actions and qualities. beauty is a subjective concept parents often find their child lying in the cradle to be the most beautiful creature in the world parents are often hard boosting of the great qualities of their children. they say that children in cradle is very smart, beautiful and mischievous although he lies flat on his back and kicks his legs in the air. they become careful when the children are five or six years old. some parents points to their babies lying in the cradle and say that they are very cute. the beholder would not like to disagree even if the baby is not cute. he would agree with the parents just to please them. it is clear that beauty is subjective or personal matter. for this reason, the author fills with wonder to se judges at beauty contests trying to measure with inch taps and weighing machines. the author declares that perception of of beauty is an entirely personal matter. an individual has his own perception of beauty. a women considered beautiful in one country may not be another country, we often wonder what is beautiful about that woman. in certain tribal societies, south india wear nose ornaments to look beautiful. women in north india usually do not wear considered defects of nature. the reality is that the concept of beauty is subjective and differs from place to place. real beauty is not found only in a perfect figure. it is found in features also. even in the judgement of features through a photograph. the camera cannot be an absolute instrument of perception. sometimes people look better than their photographs and sometimes photographs look better than the person photographed. a boy wishing to marry a girl refuses to be convinced about the beauty of his would be bride by looking at her beautiful photograph. he wants to see the girl. when he sees the girl in her parents house, good manners prevent him from looking at the girl. when he sees the marriage with the same girl in settled the boy has no regrets. he has no doubt that he has made the right choice. when he has lived with the women, the beast, he begins to find out beauty in her which may be nit have found in her in the beginning. this is quite true. otherwise, only the beauty queens or some more beautiful girls would get married. other girls will have no chance of marrying and settling in life. it could be interesting if somebody arranged an ugliness contest. if ugliness could also sell, competitions or contests wpold be held to judge the ugliness person. then the physical features which people normally hate would become the fashion. advertisres and oher sellers of goods may begin to advertise their goods stating that they could make people look like the devil. a manufacturer may
