Chap 1
rosenbergs electrocuted - she apparently saw something and she blamed Buddy Willard (unknown guy, didnt have intuition) - fashion contest in NY, got presents (she didnt use) found all 12 girls uninteresting, but Doreen, she liked her really much (some "crush") - Jay Cee = Boss, ugly. - Betsy = gurl from kansan, invited her 2 parties n sutff. - got invited to a bar by Lenny and Frankie (got 10 dolars from betting on smthin) Doren and Elly (changed her name [she was from boston] went with Lenny
Chap 2
doreen had somethin with lenny at his place, elly felt alone, so she decided 2 go 2 the hotel, had a hot bath (excited by hot baths) and felt pure [remember vodka, she said it was pure like watur] doing so, she went 2 bed. doreen appeared totally destroyed (drunk), elly left her sleeping in the hall carpet, but doreen puked. -elly appears not 2 care about doreen and says she is loyal 2 betsy and her innocent friends - "dirty nature"
Chap 3
went 2 a restaurant , doreen was missing, she was wih Lenny Shepherd at Coney Island. [flashback] She wanted 2 lay in bed [she wanted 2 do what she shouldnt, like Doreen. that made her sad] the Jay Cee called and wanted her at the office, they talked about "life" and adviced asther that she should took language classes. [flashback^2] took physics classes, passed with an A, and also chmistry. started to study shakespare.
Chap 4
[flashback: where she had her first fingerbowl:] it was at her benefactress (who gave her herscolarship), Philomena Guinea's a novelist. Finally went to the cinema, it was a football romance, it was very corky and she felt like puking and decided to leave with Betsy. they puked in the cab (looked like friends) - VERY COLD ,she had been poisoned. Doreen appeared and gave her some soup she felt pure and ready 4 new life. Crab meat had been poisoned. Ladies day had brought presents: the thiry best short stories of the year.
Chap 5

-grass (repeated some times) maybe peace
-ppl trying 2 reduce (fat) in NY
-ate cheap food at her home, her granda cooked
-she had a brother -´living in berlin speaking german like a native-
-her grandfather was a waiter
-wasnt planning to get married
-couldnt afford caviar -> not poor but couldnt get luxuries
-her name was Esther
-she was 1 year from graduating from college
-wanted 2 sudy, read , write and work like mad
-she was college correspondent for the town Gazette
-didnt know what she wanted 2 do after college
-mother spoke german (esther wanted 2, so) - wanted Jay Cee for mother. mother hated father for dying and not leaving any money
-father came from prussia and also spoke german (dead since she was 9)
