What are the requirements to apply?
To join Zipcar, you only need to be 21 years old with a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
Drivers may have no more than two incidents (moving violations plus accidents) in the past three years
and no more than one in the past 18 months. Drivers with international licenses must provide copies of
their records from the relevant authorities.
Some of Zipcar’s university partners offer the service to students, faculty, and staff aged 18 years and
older. For participating universities, members must have a drivers license for at least two years and can
have no violations on their records.

How much money should I have on my card?

What happens in case of a car crash?
Insurance: Zipcar insures all the vehicles for collision and liability. Similar to a personal automobile policy,
members pay a $500 deductible if they are in an at-fault accident.

Zipcar for people with disablities?
During the online application process, you will have the opportunity to check the box, "I have a physical disability or drive with someone who does". You will then enter your accessibility needs based on the following options before completing the application process.

I require the use of hand controls to drive a vehicle and I'm licensed to drive using hand controls.
Either I or someone I drive require(s) the use of a service animal.
I have a disability that prevents me from using a website or mobile application. I will require live contact center assistance when using Zipcar.
I require personal care assistant(s) as additional drivers on my account.

Can I change my card?
Yes if lost or stolen another will be mailed to you cost 15 dollars

Can I apply if I am underage?
No 18 years or older

Are there standards and automatic cars?
yes there are both

What are the benefits if I use the service a lot?
Yes! We have Extra Value Plans that operate much like cell phone plans – the more the member spends,
the deeper the discount. Some plans even feature rollover hours.

What happens if I die in a accident?
Members 21 years of age or older who joined the membership August 1, 2018 or later, and who are permitted to drive under this Contract, will be protected against liability for causing bodily injury or death to others or damaging the property of someone other than the authorized driver and/or the Member up to the minimum financial responsibility limits required by the law of the jurisdiction in which the accident occurs. Minimum financial responsibility limits vary by jurisdiction.

Members 21 years of age or older who joined the membership between March 1, 2015 and July 31, 2018, and who are permitted to drive under this Contract, will be protected against liability for causing bodily injury or death to others or damaging the property of someone other than the authorized driver and/or the Member up to limits of $100,000/$300,000/$25,000 per accident. This means $100,000 of coverage is the maximum payable for bodily injury per person, $300,000 of coverage is the maximum payable for bodily injuries for the entire accident and $25,000 of coverage is the maximum payable for property damage.

Benefits for students?

Does the application have any cost?
For personal driving:
Zipcars can be reserved by the hour or day. All rates include the cost of insurance, maintenance,
parking, and even gas. Rates start as low as $6.00 per hour and $56 per day in North America and £4.20
per hour or £34 per day in the UK. Rates vary from city to city and by vehicle and reservation type.
Initial membership fees are $75 (based on Occasional Driving Plan; $25 application fee and $50 annual
fee). In the second year, members only pay the annual fee. Lower membership fees apply in for
university affiliates, Philadelphia and London. For additional rate information, please visit Zipcar.com.
Zipcar for Business:
Zipcar also has a business-to-business product that offers organizations discounted hourly and daily rates
Monday through Friday and has special “7-to-7” rates that allow businesses to drive Zipcars from 7 AM to
7 PM, Monday through Friday, from only $42, with gas, parking, and insurance included.
