I have decided to change from student nurse to paramedic, as I want to be challenged every day and learn on the job. Being a paramedic to me means that no two days are the same and I will have the ability to challenge myself and actively think for the best outcome of the patient.
I admire paramedics. How they get to work autonomously, yet still have all the support they need when required. Doing nursing for a year has given me great insight and set of skills I will need to make a difference in the community as a student paramedic.
The experiences within my placements have made me more courageous and confident. Clinically, I have been pushed out of my comfort zone, especially where interacting with people, I would never normally cross paths with. Suffering anxiety myself made this extremely challenging, however, with the support of the university and my loved ones I overcame this. This has made me a better student nurse, and ultimately a better paramedic. As I now feel I can fully relate to the patient experience.
I take my role as a student very seriously and have high expectations to learn and have such a passion to care for people wherever they are of ill health.
I pride myself on delivering fantastic care and communicating with my patients, team members and the multi-disciplinary team.
I have been within situations where it is vital to keep a clear head and be attentive to emergency situations resulting in the best possible outcome for the patient.
With my dedication and determination to make a difference in peoples lives and learn new skills. I hope you will find me as a great candidate for the student paramedic position.
