Who doesn't believe in superstition? Do you believe anything? You (x4)? We think there is a superstition that everyone believes in. After this presentation will finish, you will agree with us.

There are certain amounts of unreasoning beliefs among people living in a community, arising sometimes from fear, sometimes from helplessness, and sometimes from coincidences. They are called “superstitions”. These beliefs have been existing since the creation of the first human being. The many numbers of them are not related to any scientific basis, reason and religious faith.

This superstition really does originate 5,000 years ago in ancient Egypt. A ladder leaning against a wall forms a triangle, and Egyptians regarded this shape as sacred (for example; their pyramids). To them, triangles represented the trinity of the gods, and to pass through a triangle was to desecrate them.

The belief that newbies are unusually likely to win when they try out a sport, game or activity for the first time. A beginner will always have good luck.
Rabbits are known for their speed and fertility, and for thousands of years they were the subjects of folk tales and stories. The rabbit has a trickster status; it is wily, evasive and clever. However, it is also believed that a rabbit's foot is brings good luck to anyone who carries it.

Many people think that breaking a mirror may bring you bad luck for 7 years.
Mirrors are not cursed and it is not advisable to break a mirror, as it breaks into a million pieces and you can possibly cut yourself in several places. However, the belief that a broken mirror comes with bad luck dates back to the times of the Romans, who were extremely superstitious people.

This superstition arises from old beliefs in witches and their animal familiars, which were often said to take the form of domestic animals like cats.



A rigidly spoked umbrella, opening suddenly in a small room, could seriously injure an adult or a child, or shatter a frangible object. Even a minor accident could provoke unpleasant words or a minor quarrel, themselves strokes of bad luck in a family or among friends. Thus, the superstition arose as a deterrent to opening an umbrella indoors.

Traditionally, when you speak of your own good fortune, you follow up with a quick knock on a piece of wood to keep your luck from going bad.

This superstition dates back to the bible. 666 is the given number of the beast in the book of the revelation. The beast is often considered satan.
