Bukan hanya mengadopsi kelapa sawit, desain Sport Centre Sumut juga akan menerapkan unsur-unsur budaya di Sumut pada venue-venue olahraga. Bangunan-bangunan yang ada di Sport Centre ini nantinya memiliki ornamen-ornamen kedaerahan yang ada di Sumut, seperti dari Suku Melayu ada Pucuk Rebung, suku Karo - Pengretret, Simalungn - Gorga dan suku lainnya. Tujuannya, kata Gubernur Sumut Edy Rahmayadi, agar menumbuhkan kebanggaan dan rasa memiliki dari masyarakat Sumut. “Ada ornamen-ornamen kedaerahan di sana, itu akan menjadi kebanggaan masyarakat Sumut dan juga menumbuhkan rasa memiliki".
