Alışık olduğumuz üzere Sıfır Bir sadece bir intikam hikâyesini, bir hırsızlığı ya da bir katliamı anlatmıyor; aslında her sahnesinde daha derine, sosyokültürel bir arka plana göndermelerde bulunuyor. 20’li yaşlarda üç delikanlının; Savaş, Cio ve Özgür’ün, kadim dostları Cihat Sarsılmaz ve Anafor’la beraber kendilerini ortalarında buldukları düzen, zamanla onların değişmez kara bahtı oluyor. Hürriyet Mahallesi’nde fuhuş, uyuşturucu satışı yapanlara karşı mücadele yine aynı mahallenin gençleri tarafından sonuna kadar veriliyor. Zaman kavramının kaybolduğu bu hikâyede mahallenin kendi kuralları vardır ve bu kurallar, cezaların yetersiz kaldığı her an devreye girmeye mecburdur. Savaş ve ekibi, mecburdur. Başka çareleri yoktur. Onlara başka çare bırakılmamıştır…Sıfır Bir sadece sıradan bir suç hikâyesini değil; ülkemizin, hatta dünyanın yoksul kesimlerinin gerçeğini anlatıyor. Evrenseli, yerel üzerinden yakalamayı başarıyor. Tıpkı dizinin yaratıcılarının Adanalı öncüleri Yaşar Kemal’in İnce Memed’le tüm dünyayı fethettiği ya da Yılmaz Güney’in, filmleriyle, bir kesime değil, tüm dünyaya seslendiği gibi. Adana’nın en yoksul mahallelerinden biri olan Hürriyet Mahallesi’ndeki her bir başkaldıran, maalesef bir o kadar suçlu ama iyi ki bir o kadar da insan.
