What is a veneer?
A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain made to fit over the front surface of a tooth as a false fingernail fits over a nail. Sometimes a natural-color ‘composite' material is used instead of porcelain.

When would I need a veneer?
Veneers can improve the color, shape, and position of your teeth. A precise shade of porcelain can be chosen to give the right color to improve a single discolored tooth or to lighten your front teeth. A veneer can make a chipped tooth look whole again.
The porcelain covers the whole of the front of the tooth, with a thicker section replacing the broken part. Veneers can also be used to close small gaps when orthodontics (braces) are not suitable. If one tooth is slightly out of position, a veneer can sometimes be fitted to bring it into line with the others.

What are the advantages of veneers?
Veneers make teeth look natural and healthy. Because they are very thin and are held in place by a special, strong adhesive, very little preparation of the tooth is needed. Some types of veneers don't need any preparation at all.

Who is a good candidate for veneers?
Anyone who is looking to change the color, size, shape, and width of their smile. Ideally, one's gums and bone structure should be solid and healthy. "A great cosmetic dentist can do a lot more with veneers in terms of changes to a smile than with any other cosmetic dental treatment," says Dr. Gökhan Kökdere from Dental Design Turkey, Cosmetic Dentist in Antalya, Turkey.

How long do dental veneers last?
Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length. Veneers generally last between 10 and 15 years. After this time, the veneers would need to be replaced.

How often do veneers need replacing?
The average lifespan of a dental veneer is about 10 years. With proper care and treatment, that time frame can be lengthened, to up to 20 years. If one of the following occurs, you may have to replace your veneers early: Your dental veneers are chipped or cracked, or they are simply worn down.

What Types of Problems Do Dental Veneers Fix?
Teeth that are discolored -- either because of root canal treatment; stains from tetracycline or other drugs, excessive fluoride or other causes; or the presence of large resin fillings that have discolored the tooth
Teeth that are worn down
Teeth that are chipped or broken
Teeth that are misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped (for example, have craters or bulges in them)
Teeth with gaps between them (to close the space between these teeth)

What's the Procedure for Getting a Dental Veneer?
Getting a dental veneer usually requires three trips to the dentist – one for a consultation and two to make and apply the veneers. One tooth or many teeth can simultaneously undergo the veneering process described below.

Diagnosis and treatment planning.
This first step involves your active participation. Explain to your dentist the result that you are trying to achieve. During this appointment, your dentist will examine your teeth to make sure dental veneers are appropriate for you and discuss what the procedure will involve and some of its limitations. He or she also may take X-rays and possibly make impressions of your mouth and teeth.
Preparation.
To prepare a tooth for a veneer, your dentist will reshape the tooth surface, which is an amount nearly equal to the thickness of the veneer to be added to the tooth surface. Before trimming off the enamel, you and your dentist will decide the need for a local anesthetic to numb the area. Next, your dentist will make a model or impression of your tooth. This model is sent out to a dental laboratory, which in turn constructs your veneer. It usually takes 2-4 weeks for your dentist to receive the veneers back from the laboratory. Temporary dental veneers can be used for very unsightly teeth.
Bonding.
Before the dental veneer is permanently cemented to your tooth, your dentist will temporarily place it on your tooth to examine its fit and color. He or she will repeatedly remove and trim the veneer as needed to achieve the proper fit; the veneer color can be adjusted with the shade of cement to be used. Next, to prepare your tooth to receive the veneer, your tooth will be cleaned, polished, and etched -- which roughens the tooth to allow for a strong bonding process. A special cement is applied to the veneer and the veneer is then placed on your tooth. Once properly position on the tooth, your dentist will apply a special light beam to the dental veneer, which activates chemicals in the cement, causing it to harden or cure very quickly. The final steps involve removing any excess cement, evaluating your bite and making any final adjustments in the veneer as necessary. Your dentist may ask you to return for a follow-up visit in a couple of weeks to check how your gums are responding to the presence of your veneer and to once again examine the veneer's placement.

Do Veneers Ruin Your Real Teeth?
No, porcelain veneers do not ruin your natural teeth! In fact, they are designed to fit over your teeth and enhance their naturally beautiful appearance. The first step to understanding that veneers do not hurt or ruin your real teeth is to understand how they work. When you meet with one of our cosmetic dentists for porcelain veneers, we have your veneers custom-designed to fit your exact smile. Whether you are in for one veneer or for your whole smile, your new veneers are designed and fabricated for a custom, perfect fit. Veneers are attached to your natural teeth with a special material that hardens under a certain type of light. After they are bonded to your teeth, they are shaped and polished by our cosmetic dentist until they are absolutely perfect!

Do veneers feel like real teeth?
There's no reason that you should notice these veneers when you're eating or talking. Porcelain veneers feel natural when in your mouth because impressions are taken from your teeth before the veneers are created, which means that these veneers will match your natural tooth shape and size.

Can you get veneers without shaving your teeth?
With no-preparation veneers, there is no removal or shaving your natural teeth required, and the veneers are fitted directly over your existing natural teeth.
Before placing them permanently, your dentist checks the final veneer’s fit and appearance in your mouth. Adjustments in veneer color can be made at this point. If the veneer doesn’t fit perfectly, the dentist can trim it down. After cleaning, polishing, and etching your tooth, your dentist will bond the veneer to your tooth. Even after the veneer has been placed and cemented, your dentist can still make bite and fit adjustments. Today’s veneers last for between 10 and 20 years, which is a huge improvement over the old style that barely stayed in place.

How much do porcelain veneers cost?
So, you think you may be interested in porcelain veneers? Wonderful! Naturally, the next question many of our patients have is: how much do porcelain veneers cost? Well, the cost of porcelain veneers is really very dependent on your specific situation. We wish we could provide an easy, guaranteed answer to that question, but it really is necessary to have one of our cosmetic dentists evaluate you for porcelain veneers to determine a cost. Cost varies based on the state of your teeth, your jaw, and how many veneers you are interested in. Depending on your insurance provider, you may be able to pay for some of the procedure through insurance. Some patients choose to place veneers on all their teeth. Others prefer to only place veneers on the top teeth. Some only want porcelain veneers on the 6 or 8 teeth that really show when they smile. No matter how many veneers you are interested in, or if you only want to learn more, please send us mouth and teeth photos from different angles. One of our dentists will evaluate you to determine if you are eligible to receive veneers, and will discuss the cost of the procedure at that time.

How much does a full set of veneers cost in Turkey?
The cost of traditional veneers can run between GBP119 and GBP279 per tooth, while the price of Lumineers can range between GBP99 and GBP279 per tooth. Many factors influence how much patients pay for dental veneers, which can be made from porcelain as well as resin composite materials.,
