I used to giggle as I laughed and I played.
Elementary is easy but wait till your older,
all it will ever do from now is get harder.
So i studied and I worked
and it stayed pretty ok
4th was a breeze
5th had ease
and I still got to play.
suddenly in 6th grade its a whole new enviroment
where once all you had to worry was if you were gonna fit in
now theres piles of homework and piles of stress
putting out more work, of which none is your best.
Always preparing "Next year'll be harder"
Always preparing "Boy you better be smarter"
and now its 7th grade where life is just dandy
everyone just wants to be older
but older is not better i scream to myself in my head
and my mouth doesn't move cause id rather be dead
8th grade comes around and all you'll ever hear
is how "High school expects more every year"
how come nothing is for the now?
how come learning went from the why to the how
learning for a number
defining out value
because you'll need this in high school
so what will i do.
Now it's freshman year.
Education has turned to a joke,
No one wants to learn anymore
I survive till the bell then i run out the door
how did we get this far
I used to think school was so great
now its become a place i so very hate
This confining mental asylum
peppered with ADD, Depression, Anxiety,
half just fake it to be edgy between you and me
and yet its brushed off as a joke
just like global warmings a hoax
it's only sophmore year of highschool,
yet whats good for college is what you must do
it can suck the will to live from right under you
as long as a college will like it
treating college like its a god to be worshipped
but all it is 4 years of hardship
and at the end you get a little paper degree
which doesn't even help getting a job anymore.
unless you can commit to your work as your life
and forget about your dreams of a house or a wife
because nothing is about the present
the future must be the only thing you think for
i guess it doesn't matter anymore.
my grades have fallen and so have my hopes
cause im sitting here, tired strangled by ropes
ropes of the future, ropes of the past
nothing to free me with the will to fight going fast.
I used to love school, i thought it was fly
but i'm not sure if i can go another day and not cry.
But sure, it's the phones.
