First of all, Harriet Tubman was born as a slave. She was born in Maryland on 1819. Since she wasn't told when she was born and there wasn't records, which is why we don't know when her birthday is and not even she knows when her birthday was. She worked at a very young age. She wasn't treated well and was beaten when she doesn't do a job well. When she was 12, she was considered strong enough to work at the fields. She went through harsh work in the plantations, but this was when she started to have a stronger faith in Christianity. Based on the article, "Early Life: Harriet Tubman". http://www.harriet-tubman.org/early-life/ . This is very important because her faith in Christianity helped her through these hard times, it also gave her hope and yearn to do the things that she did later on in her life.
Second of all, when Tubman grew up, she wanted to leave and be a free women. She knows that she doesn't deserve what the slave owners was doing to her, in fact, she doesn't think anyone should be going through the her owners did to her. She believed that slavery was bad because they thought it was immoral and that every human should be treated equally, which is why she becomes an abolitionist later on in her life. The thing that makes her different from a lot of other slaves is that she doesn't just to be free, she wants everyone to feel free from slavery like she would. This is what made her want to become a "conductor" for the Underground Railroad. Based on "Underground railroad" https://www.history.com/topics/black-history/underground-railroad , the Underground railroad is a network of runaway slaves that want to escape slavery by going to the north. This was perfect for Harriet because she wants to help other slaves to be free. She risked her own life just to save a small group of people. Based on Harriet Tubman Biography https://www.biography.com/activist/harriet-tubman , she has helped save more than 300 people. Why is this important to know? Harriet Tubman escaped her plantation and came back to save others. Someone must be very brave to escape their plantation, and coming back would basically be suicide. But Harriet was a very strategic person who was a part of the underground railroad which is something that a lot of people haven't done.
Third of all, Harriet has left a legacy. She had a very rough childhood because of the ways she was treated in the farm as she grew up, she had hallucinations and paralysis from a blow in the head. This blow to the head changed her life. She didn't any medical attention and it didn't matter. She stood back up, and changed for the better. Because of all the things she's experienced, her faith in God grew. She let God let her lead the way out of things. Her faith in God and her experiences as a slave growing up is what made her different from most abolitionists at the time. Unlike most abolitionists, she had first-hand experience. Based on "The Legacy of Harriet Tubman" https://www.harriettubmanhome.com/legacy , her goal was to have all races would act like one. Without her, who knows where we'll be?
In conclusion, Harriet Tubman was an important figure in history because she was treated terribly under her slave owner's control and yet she became a successful abolitionist and conductor for the underground railroad. She worked her hardest to be able to help slaves feel free from their owner and spread the word of how terrible and unfair slavery was. Because of her, she was one of the most important reasons why we're all treated equal today.
