---theres a quick list @ the bottom if you dont have time to read all the official summaries n stuff, but some of the summaries have TL;DR's for convenience. i also left some of my own extra notes below the summaries & tl;dr's for stuff that i liked about the mangas, and stuff that the summary didnt cover that may be worth mentioning.

"The Beginning After the End" - TurtleMe [Online comic]
- ongoing, 49 chapters atm

==kind of a story of cultivation, pretty engaging story once he's begins to do stuff. im on chapter 38 atm. its based on a novel.

- completed, 260 chapters

"Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun" / "Jibaku-Shounen Hanako-Kun" - Iro Aida [Manga]
- ongoing, 62 chapters atm

TL;DR: hopeless romantic highschooler, nene, seeks out the help of a ghosty boy bound to a girls' restroom toilet stall. together, they begin to solve their school's seven mysteries, while hanako's dark past comes back to haunt them.
== the art is so so nice !! its actually pretty sad, but you'll figure that out along the way :) there're some pretty good twisty plot twists. good character development and relatability. im on the latest chapter. has an anime adaption in progress, worth watching, and so far- is pretty faithful to the manga, though, the manga is more enjoyable imo. im sure youve seen me talk about this one extensively already :) i luv kou and mitsuba :((

"Tokyo Ghoul" - Sui Ishida [Manga]
- completed, 14 volumes, 144 chapters
== College student, Kaneki Ken, becomes a ghoul after an incident leading to a ghoul's organs being transplanted into his body. He attempts to live a normal life while having to learn how to live as part-ghoul.
== i heard the anime sucked, so i just read the manga instead. actually pretty good. kinda gory at times. takes a few chapters for the story to set in motion. i finished reading this.

"Bungou Stray Dogs" - Kafuka Asagiri
- ongoing, 19 volumes, 79 chapters atm
== "Atsushi Nakajima is on the brink of death after being kicked out of his orphanage. With no food and nowhere to go, all hope seems lost—until he saves a mysterious man called Osamu Dazai from drowning. Much to his partner Doppo Kunikida's irritation, Dazai offers Atsushi a meal and reveals they work for the Armed Detective Agency, an organization of gifted individuals who take care of criminal cases the authorities cannot.

TL;DR: boy gets kicked outta his orphanage and saves a suicidal dude who actually turns out to be part of the Armed Detective Agency, and from there, he gets a job at their place. oh and theres a turf war and atsushi's their main target. *cue tiger rawr xd noises*
== im not big on stories with people with superpowers, but bnha and this are an exception 😌😌 it has an anime adaption, but i prefer the manga. though, the manga was adapted from the light novel. the complexity of fookin dazai was hgvbedhs mans is way too smart its scary. theres a lot of minor stuff that happens in the story, that will eventually tie back in with the plot and its like,,, how did i overlook that ndfbdhf yea i luv this manga sm but i dont really know how to describe it

"Sweet Home" - Carnby Kim [Webtoon]
- ongoing, 109 chapters atm

== very far from sweet ... pretty intense and sad at times. very interesting if youre into apocalyptic, end of the world, type of stories. monsters look scary owo. im caught up to the latest chapter.

"The Last Human" - Amazing Works [Manhua]
- ongoing, 208 chapters atm

TL;DR: guy dies in a zombie apocalypse and goes back in time to the days leading up to the apocalypse. he has a second chance to correct the mistakes of his past life.
== when i first started reading this, i was going through a zombie manga phase ... n e ways,, i binge read this. its pretty interesting. im around chapter 190 (mangarock didnt save my spot 😞)

- my favourite uwu <333 its about 559 chapters, so maybe just watch the anime if ur impatient


Honourable Manga Mention (psychological):

"Sachi-Iro No One Room" - Hakuri
- ongoing, 7 volumes, 38 chapters atm
== "One day, a fourteen year-old girl was kidnapped... or so the police have been lead to believe. Actually, she tried to run away from her abusive parents and was helped by her stalker who then shelters her in his apartment. Although he considers his actions as kidnapping, the girl is happy about the situation and proposes to him, with the condition that if they are caught, they will commit suicide."
== this is a story about two damaged people who are trying to grasp a meaning and reason to live, while they have oppposite views on life. its a very psychological manga due to the complexity of these characters and their circumstances, rather than a shounen. its not like killing stalking 😞 sachi has been abused by her parents all her life, but once she gets "kidnapped," she actually longs to stay with her captor. what this manga depicts is someone showing kindness to a girl that has had a really unfortunate life and this girl finally experiences what happiness is. its not a case of stockholm syndrome, as he actually treats sachi quite well. their relationship is quite complicated. its a bittersweet story :( the art is quite nice, and it even has a japanese tv drama adaption. i prefer the manga though, but the drama is worth watching if you really like the story.

- kinda sad :(( cute friendship, but dark secret; its a standalone manga, so its only one volume = quick read <3

"Koko wa Ima Kara Rinri Desu"
- about philosphy and stuff, pretty good if you just wanna wind down after reading a complicated story and just wanna think/reflect


The following recs. are romance-focused, not shounens, but they have more diversity, relatability(?), and some are lgbt characters

"Here U Are" - D. Jun [Manhua]
- ongoing, 109 chapters atm
== "Receptioning the newcomers is a task for YuYang, and he ends up helping the unsociable and towering LiHuan, the kind of person that does everything to be disliked. But after better knowing each other, he discovers that the giant isn't that bad of a person at all..."
== tbh, this official summary does not do this story justice ! this was one of my first bl's and/or manhuas. what i love about this story is that, unlike other bl stories, it actually has a great discussion about the struggles of being gay in today's society, and how the fetishization of gay men by fujoshis can be pretty harmful. one of the main charactersm, yuyang has internalized homophobia due to past events, and throughout the story, we can see how it affects him and his future relationships with others. i love this aspect of the story because the actual hardships of the lgbt community is usually never discussed in mangas, and it was just really refreshing to see. and also, the art is so nice !! because this is romance focused, there isnt much action or fighting like in the previous shounens. since this is a shounen-ai, there are no s*x scenes in this, if youre worried about that. im caught up to the latest chapter.

"SQ: Begin With Your Name" / "Tamen De Gushi" - Tan Jiu [Manhua]
- ongoing, 199 chapters atm
== The funny romantic story of how Qiu Tong and Sun Jing met and fell in love.
== so the official summary of this sucks ass,,, but thats ok, because im here. ive heard some people refer to this story as the lesbian version of here u are,, accurate. though, this story does not deal with the hardships of being lesbian. nonetheless, this story is really cute and nice if youre just looking for a light read or after youve read something that was way too intense 😌😌 theres not much angst, just soft romance. no s*x scenes. this story revolves around two high school girls, the tall and outgoing Sun Jing, and Qiu Tong, the shy and sweet sophmore. "its a simple school romance with relatable scenerios, lovable characters, and down-to-earth humour," according to a snippet of the mangarock summary. since good, non-fetishized gl's manga is pretty hard to come by, i always try to recommend this to people so they dont fall into the hands of "citrus" 🤢 🤮

"Blood Bank" - Silb [Lezhin]
- completed, 61 chapters

== the official summary does not cover the plot at all, but uh, despite the bdsm, theres actually a really good plot i swear 😭😭 theres great world building and character development. like,,, trust me on this. i swear theres more plot than there is sex bhefbvger but if youre uncomfortable with any form of pp's, then skip this recommendation (but youve read killing stalking, so it cant be TOO hard for you to handle 😳). the first few chapters may seem questionable, but if you power through, itll be worth it

"Out of Control" / "Never Understand" - Bbong
- really, really good shounen ai 🥺🥺🥺 its pretty popular; the art and colour palette is nice; focuses on one couple, but also showcases two side couples; really cute, i finished reading

"The Lady and Her Butler" - its on webtoons
- hetero relationship, cute, i finished reading

"Takane and Hana" - issa manga
- hetero relationship, mainly a comedy, pretty popular, on volume 8 or 9

"I Want to Eat Your Pancreas"
- guy finds dying girls diary; sad :((((((( cute blooming romance, hetero
