Installation art is a form of art which is “installed” or “put in” its surroundings or environment. It is often site specific and designed to transform the perception of a space.
eg. Buttons Installation Art, Paper Cave Installation Art, Melting Man

Public art includes any work displayed within public spaces, with the goal of being accessible to everyone. It could be a major exhibit featuring numerous pieces or a smaller one.
eg. Statue of liberty, Angel of the North, Federation Bells

Mixed media art refers to a visual art form that combines a variety of media in a single artwork.
eg. Still Life with Chair Caning, Angel of Anarchy

Photography is the art, application and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film.

Digital Art is an artistic composition that relies heavily on the use of technology in its creation.

1) Stand alone: Stand alone describes artworks that are three dimensional and freestanding rather than embedded into the structure of a building or built space. The work may be a singular piece, a series of related works or an installation. Works of this nature have traditionally been associated with permanent materials (such as marble or bronze); however contemporary artists have expanded their practice to include materials such as found objects and multimedia.
Integrated: Integrated artwork refers to art that is integrated into a building, or built space, such as ceilings, walls, glazing, screens and floors. The work has the potential to span both the interior and exterior spaces of a built structure. Integrated artwork may also assist in defining or separating space.

Applied: Applied artwork refers to work that is applied to an interior or exterior surface. This may include commissioned paintings, tapestries and murals.

Installation: Installation art is where the artwork and the site are integral to each other. The artwork could be comprised of a number of elements but the ensemble may be viewed as a whole. The space may be created with a particular work in mind, or the artist may respond to a given space (e.g. Antony Gormley’s ‘Inside Australia’, Lake Ballard).

Ephemeral: Ephemeral artwork describes non-permanent work that can include temporary installations, performance art, dance, or exhibitions.

2) Purple Painted Background
Here we create a simple background with many layers to add texture and visual interest to our Mixed Media Art piece, even before adding the collage elements. These techniques can be used with different colours to create all sorts of backgrounds.

Credit Card Painting
The credit card painting technique is great for getting colour onto lots of paper fairly quickly, which makes it an ideal technique for large swaps or large journal pages. Experiment with different colour combinations and you will have endless, unique background papers, ready for journalling or collage.

Mixed Media Stencils
Creating your own stencils is an easy way to add shapes and patterns across your artwork, and gives you control over your creating process and originality. If drawing a picture to make your own stencil is a little scary, then here is a method that removes the need to do any drawing.
