Automatic Train Control (ATC)
- software that allows the TTC to run at a greater capacity
- previously, buffers in between subway trains on a track were "blocks", as in one train could only be in a given block at a time, and this was controlled manually
- with ATC, this buffer becomes a variable depending on train speed controlled automatically, as opposed to a fixed block's length
- trains can communicate with each other


What human errors could this software potentially eliminate?
- less so human error, but much more efficient in transporting humans on the TTC
- takes the human component out of the train driving, fully automated
- greater safety, improved efficiency and increased passenger capacity
