After reading the person specifications for this job role I am confident that I am a suitable candidate for this position. I am a mature, positive and hardworking individual, who always strives to achieve high standards. Equipped with excellent communication skills and the ability and experience, to relate to a wide range of people. I thrive on gaining further knowledge and acquiring new skills and experiences from training and working alongside my colleagues. I work well under pressure and I can deal with problems which may arise either individually or as a team. I remain good-humoured and unflappable under pressure. I have found working with a wide range of people both rewarding and positively challenging and this has reflected well in my attendance and punctuality at work. I enjoy gaining new knowledge and skills to enhance my development. I am a patient and adaptable individual who has the skills to adjust to meet the care needs of different individuals whilst remaining calm through challenging and stressful situations.
Since working within the care sector, I have thrived on the enjoyment of caring for people and the job satisfaction it has given me. Although working in care has it’s challenges I feel lucky to help those less fortunate and I am always delighted to see the people I care for. Working in the care sector can be upsetting, this is understandably tough on occasions however, the most important thing to me is to provide people with the best care and treatment throughout their journey and to support them through the good and the bad times. I am a strong believer in treating people the way I wish to be treated however, most importantly treating people how they wish to be treated. I enthusiastically promote person-centred care and I believe patients should be at the centre of their own care and provided with a high standard of respect and dignity to support them through decisions and the care they wish for.
Previous hospitality experience has given me strong interpersonal and communication skills that support my capabilities to engage with patients and work alongside colleagues to ensure communication is appropriate yet, is effective and adaptable. When working at the Commercial Hotel I was trusted with a lot of responsibility especially considering that I started there as a kitchen porter. This demonstrates my dedication to excel and develop by taking on more responsibility and challenging myself. With the added responsibility I was required to supervise less experienced work colleagues and so team work was a significant trait required within that role. Team work is always something that I have felt very comfortable participating in, it encourages me to better myself within my job role and I feel it is positive to learn from other team members.
I am an eager and enthusiastic individual who aims to learn as much as possible. After a couple of months in my previous role I received employee of the month for completing all the online training, a lot of which I chose to do as additional studies. I have high standards, which is important to me and this is demonstrated by my performance. I have always been a caring, compassionate and empathetic person and have received a lot of positive feedback for this. However, since starting my current role I believe my caring and compassionate nature has blossomed and this has highlighted how important the enjoyment of helping people is to me.
Working on the maternity ward would be a fantastic opportunity, where I wish to gain a great wealth of experience whilst further developing my knowledge and skills to help people in my care.
