Ada 3 tipe cara belajar / menyerap informasi yaitu visual, auditori dan kinestetik.
Tipe visual adalah tipe yang cenderung lebih mudah menyerap informasi dengan menggunakan indera penglihatan (visual). Tipe ini akan merasa lebih mudah mengingat sesuatu lewat gambar / tulisan. Bahkan, kadang tipe ini suka lupa dengan nama orang lain tapi ingat akan wajah orang itu (karena yang pertama terekam adalah ekspresi orangnya). Tips untuk orang yang bertipe ini adalah perhatikan penerangan saat belajar, hindari polusi visual, dan kalau bisa buat catatan pelajaran semenarik mungkin.
Tipe auditori menerima informasi paling mudah dengan menggunakan indera pendengaran (audio). Tipe ini jika menghafal cenderung sambil mengeluarkan suara. Tips untuk orang yang bertipe ini adalah saat belajar sebaiknya memperbanyak sesi tanya jawab secara lisan, hindari juga polusi suara dan coba gunakan alat bantu seperti voice recorder.
Tipe kinestetik cenderung mnerima informasi paling efektif dari gerakan tubuh atau aktivitas fisik (praktik). Tipe kinestetik ini orangnya tidak bisa diam, kurang suka teori dan lebih mudah paham jika langsung praktik.
