Violence is a tool, Just like peaceful confrontation. Sure, Gandhi's non-violent movement worked great, But the entire mankind has been shaped by wars and gruesome episodes. It depends from the situation you have on hand, Non-violent methods might work sometimes, But violence too: necessary evil for the greater good. A greater leader must be able to manage both.


The Colonization of North, America, South America, Africa and South Asia. European powers slaughtered and enslaved dozens of millions of people from these regions. In many cases, The native people of these lands did not have the power to fight back. In many cases, The native people(such as in North America, Central America and South Asia) attempted to establish treaties that they thought would ensure peace. In most cases, It only succeeded in wiping out large portions of their populations. If rebellions against colonial powers had used violence and the oppressed had killed the oppressors where they stood, Maybe things would have been different today. The Nazis weren't defeated through negotiation.
