How I feel about living in a binary world when it comes to gender, I honestly have no problem with it. It has been this way for a very long period of time and I don’t feel the need for it to change as I don’t think it affects the big majority of people in the world in any negative way. Overall, I think it was made to be this way for a reason which is why it has been, but at the same time everyone has the freedom to dress, act, talk and think what they want about themselves.
I am very aware of the alternatives to male, female, masculine and feminine. A lot of things exist these days beyond those few options such as non-binary, two-spirited, cis-gender, transgender, genderqueer, bigender, genderfluid, genderless, androgyny, agender, cross-dressing, drag king, drag queen, metrosexual and I am sure there are even more out there. They all sound very similar, but all differ in one way or another from each other cis gender is the only one in the group that basically means you’re the typical male or female while all the other ones are a bit more complicated than that.
In my opinion the best aspects with being male or female in a society that polarizes gender is that most people in this world are one of the two things male or female, so you never feel like you are the odd one out if you don’t identify as something different than those two things. On the bad side if you are a male for example and you like to figure skate instead of playing hockey then people might make fun of you for doing that or look at you differently because your not the typical demographic that does that.
