Discussion Instructions

It is almost time for you to take the unit test. This discussion assignment will help you review for it. In order to prepare yourself for the discussion and the test, read back through the notes you took over this unit.

Please follow the instructions below to participate in this discussion.

Posting Guidelines

What are the four most important concepts that you learned in this unit?

Using complete sentences, post the four most important concepts in the discussion area.

Response Guidelines

You are required to respond to two of your classmate’s posts.

Response 1:

•View another student’s response and identify the two concepts out of their four that you find most important.
•In complete sentences, post a response and explain why you chose those two concepts.
Response 2:

•Choose another student’s response that has already been narrowed down to two concepts, and choose the most important concept out of the two.
•In complete sentences, post a response and explain why you chose this concept.

Unit 7 DiscussionYes7/7/2014Brandon MMy four most important concepts in this unit are: 1. The formulat for determining the axis of symmetry which is x = -b/2a. 2. The use of quadratic formula to determine the solution of a quadratic equation if it can't be factored. 3. If the "a" coefficient of the quadratic formula is positive then parabola will open up and if "a" is negative the parabola will open down. 4. The discriminant can be use to determine the number of real roots. If the discriminant is > 0 then there are 2 real roots. If the discriminant is = 0 then there is one real root. If the discriminant is < 0 there are no real roots.ReplyQuoteUnit 7 DiscussionYes6/25/2014Mallika KIn this unit, I picked up on a lot of valuable information. The first concept I chose was about the opening of the parabola and how it was dependent on the coeffecient. The second concept was the vertex formula, x= -b/2a. The third concept was the discriminant formula which is b^2-4 a c. The final concept was that the domain is all real numbers. I picked up on other concepts as well, but I felt that these are the most basic and necessary components of this unit. ReplyQuoteUnit 7 DiscussionYes6/24/2014Evelyn NThe 4 most important concepts is Solving Quadratics By Graphing, applying the equation ax squared +bx+c=0, the way a parabola works (range=positive it opens up and vice versa) and how the domain is always real numbers.ReplyQuoteRe:Unit 7 DiscussionYes7/3/2014Brandon MI think the 2 most important concepts in your statement is applying the equation ax squared +bx+c=0 and is how to domain is sometimes the real number. I think the ax squared +bx+c is very important because it helps you solve the equation. I also think that you always have to know that the domain is all real numbers the most of the time because that will usually be the answer.ReplyQuoteUnit 7 disccussion ------- Gaston R.Yes6/23/2014Gaston RThe four most important concepts are how to graph quadratics , solving quadratics by factoring, using the quadratic formula, and the last is application of quadratics.ReplyQuoteUnit 7 DiscussionYes6/18/2014Antonio LThe four most important concepts that you learned in this unit are. Graphing Quadratics, Solving Quadratics by Graphing, Solving Quadratics by Square Roots, and Factoring to Solve Quadratic and Problems ReplyQuoteRe:Unit 7 DiscussionYes6/24/2014Evelyn NOut of those 4, I would say the 2 most important are Graphing Quadratics and Solving QuadraticsReplyQuoteRe:Re:Unit 7 DiscussionYes7/3/2014Brandon MI would think the most important of those two is solving the Quadratic because if you wouldn't solve the quadratic you wouldn't get the solutions.ReplyQuoteUnit 7 DiscussionYes6/11/2014Jia ZThe most important four concepts : 1.The first one is that a domain is all real numbers 2.The seconed is domain of any quadratic function in the form of y=ax²+bx+c is all real numbers. 3.The third of the four is; if the parabola does not intersect the x axis, then the equation may have no real root. 4.The fourth concept I find to be important is that you can have 2, 1, or no solutions on a graph.ReplyQuoteUnit 7 DiscussionYes6/11/2014Xin HThe four most important concepts I learned this unit were related to graphing quadratics and methods of solving more complex quadratic equations. I found these four concepts to be the most essential concepts I learned in this unit. The first one is that a domain is all real numbers. The second thing is when the parabola does not intersect the x axis there are no real solutions. The third one is when finding the range of a function, if the graph opens up the range is y greater than or equal to the y value of the vertex, and if the graph opens downward then the range is y less than or equal to the y value of the vertex. The fourth one will be the domain and range. The domain of any quadratic function is all real numbers. And the range of a quadratic function, if the graph opens upward the range is y greater than or equal to the y value of the vertex. If the graph opens downward the range is y less than or equal to the y value of the vertex. Finally, these are the most meaningful concepts that I learned in this unit, ReplyQuoteUnit 7 DiscussionYes6/11/2014De BI chose those first concept because when finding the range of the function, knowing how to tell if y is greater than or equal to or less than or equal to the y value of the vertex is a vital step in finding the range of a function. I chose the second concept because it is very important in this unit to be able to tell if the equation has a real root/solution or not.ReplyQuoteUnit 7 DiscussionYes6/11/2014Ning LTwo of the most important concepts I find most important are: 1) When finding the range of a function, if the graph opens up the range is y greater than or equal to the y value of the vertex, and if the graph opens downward then the range is y less than or equal to the y value of the vertex. From these unit I learnd is: The first one is that a domain is all real numbers. The four most important concepts I learned this unit were related to graphing quadratics and methods of solving more complex quadratic equations. The firs of the four important concepts i learned in this unit is that the domain is all real numbers. ReplyQuoteUnit 7 DiscussionYes6/10/2014Wei XThe most important four concepts are 1. what is quadratic equation and how to solve the equation . 2. how to determine domain and range for quadratics . 3 .how to graphing the quadratic equation . 4 .how to solve the quadratic equation by funtion.ReplyQuote
