Transfigurasi adalah cabang ilmu sihir paling rumit dan paling berbahaya. Diambil dari kata "Transform" yang berarti mengubah. Transfigurasi mengubah bentuk suatu bentuk ke bentuk lainnya, juga memperkecil atau memperbesar ukuran benda tanpa merusak bentuknya.
Mantra dalam Transfigurasi ada tiga:
1. Transformation spell: yang mengubah suatu objek menjadi kebentuk lainnya dan bukan hanya bentuknya namun juga susunannya. Transformation spell digolongkan dalam beberapa bagian yaitu
a. Inanimate to Inanimate: mengubah benda mati ke benda mati lainnya
b. Animate to Inanimate: mengubah makhluk hidup menjadi benda mati lain
c. Inanimate to Animate: mengubah benda mati menjadi makhluk hidup lainnya
d. Animate to Animate : mengubah makhluk hidup menjadi makhluk hidup lainnya
2. Vanishing spell: atau mantra pelenyap. Mantra ini membuat eksistensi objek tersebut lenyap dan tak berbekas
3. Conjuring spell: merupakan mantra pengadaan. Mantra ini dapat memunculkan objek dari udara kosong.

*Transfigurasi tanpa memperlukan ayunan tongkat maupun mantra:
-Animagus adalah kemampuan seorang penyihir dalam merubah bentuk ke wujud hewan dan kembali ke wujud manusianya sesuai keingingan.
-Metamorphmagus adalah kemampuan penyihir dalam merubah bentuk dirinya menjadi apapun yang diinginkan. Kemampuan ini ada sejak lahir dan berbeda dengan animagus yang memperlukan latihan keras.
