I would like to do nursing as my carer as I have always felt that it is important to always give back to others, whether that is through care, love or happiness, I feel that it is important to always help people who are in need of care whether that is medical/physical or personal, they should be given the same equal opportunity as an able person, to live life the best quality through what ever medical condition they have. I would like to think that in this role of being a nurse that I could give back in all these ways.

The job role I am in now is currently an apprenticeship for Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship Standard, City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support. This apprenticeship is a two year programme but as being a hard working member of staff/student and keeping on top of course work I have manged to get this nearly completed in a years time which means I will finished by the end of January 2019, then be placed as a full time member of staff with the qualifications and skills gained. This job is very rewarding I feel very lucky to be in a job role as such, as you learn so much. The skills I have gained from this job are, administration of medication, drawing up the correct dosages for medication, signing for medication, ordering medication. Clinical skills, cleanliness, how to change tapes for a tracheotomy the clinical way, changing actual tapes/ dressings, personal care, moving and positioning safely, hoisting, observations, temperature, communication skills, respect in the work place, staying professional at all times, being observant at all times, changing tracheotomy on the patients, cpr, emergency procedures, mickey button change procedure/gejostomy, hygiene, administration of oxygen, ventilation trained, building friendly and safe relationships, how to maintain confidential information, daily check routines, filling in the correct information and so on.

All of these skills are transferable for the future role I see myself being in, it is all clinical based, I make sure in my role that I do now that everything is done to its full potential even at the level I should only be working to and more it is important that I do my job role correctly and safely at all times. I feel I am a strong minded member of staff who can bring all these skills to the role and to maintain them everyday to the standards of the NHS policies. I also feel it would be good to help others along the way and help build their confidence as well as others. All of these have made me want to push myself to be a nurse as I feel I can continue to help people, push myself to the best I can be, support the people who need the best care possible and work for a industry who are all about giving back.

I would like to learn from this experience of being a nurse:
1. How to cope under emergency pressure in a bigger environment
2. How to take bloods
3. How to deal with all areas of care

In past experiences I have worked full time in a jewellery store, where I had the responsibility of being key holder, cashing up, communicating with all members of the public, working as a team to meet targets, pushing myself out of comfort zones, travelling to work at different branches etc.
