Now on BBC Sports...the athlete of the day..in partnership with the International Olympic Committee and... the Paralympic Games of Paris.
We strongly advise you to go and see those athletes if you are located in paris about july 2024 and if you want to understand another vision of sports and bravery.
These athletes are very inspiring, they are constantly fighting to practice sports which had been designed for regular people.
One of them is Théo Curin, at the the age of six, he contracted meningococcal meningitis. To save his life from this rare bacterial disease, doctors had to amputate the ends of his limbs.
All of this changed when he met French para-athlete, Philippe Croizon. Also missing four limbs through amputation. Aged seven at the time, the meeting left Théo with a burning desire to prove he could do anything.
Encouraged to try swimming by Croizon, who is now a friend of the family, he quickly began to appreciate the sport.
Since then, his disability has not stood in his way. He is a swimmer representing France at the highest level. At the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Théo was the youngest member of the French delegation at the age of 16, and won a fourth place at the 200m freestyle swimming, which is spectacular for a juvenile swimmer.
Not only is Théo an Olympic athlete but also a model, he is very famous on social medias and his impressive journey change people’s state of mind about handicaps.
This fantastic young man will be present at the Paralympics in Paris,so...let’s encourage him !!
