In today's world, many people don't realize the importance of culture in language teaching but apart from linguistic skills ,grammar, vocabulary etc. culture has a vital role in language teaching. As Choplek (2008) explained “to learn a language well usually requires knowing something about the culture of that language.” in other words, we can say language and culture are regarded as indivisible.
In English as a foreign language (EFL) this case becomes more crucial. According to Choplek (2008) EFL learners' aim is not only to speak native speakers of English but also non-native speakers of english.





At this point, english becomes a common language — lingua franca- between people who do not share the same native language. So i agree with Alptekin (2012), because he believes that "One cannot claim that there is one correct and appropriate way to use English" For example, think about a native english speaker, an indian speaker and a turkish speaker. They all speak english but they all have different accents and speak differently so this means there is not a single correct way to use english. Thus, in order to provide successful international communication an EFL teacher should use intercultural approach in the class.





The priority for EFL students using the English is to be as intelligible as possible while communicating.




As Choplek said "without knowing the approeite cultural content, communication most likely to result in misunderstanding or humorous incidents."
