Environment ~ The surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates

Organism ~ A living thing (same as biotic)

Consumer ~ A person or thing that eats or uses something

Carnivore ~ An organism that eats only animals

Herbivore ~ An organism that eats only plants

Omnivore ~ An organism that eats both plants and animals

Decomposer ~ An organism, especially a soil bacterium, fungus,
or invertebrate, that decomposes organic material

Photosynthesis ~ The process by which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water

Matter ~ Physical substance in general, as distinct from mind and spirit; (in physics) that which occupies space and possesses rest mass, especially as distinct from energy

Niche ~a comfortable or suitable position in life or employment

Habitat ~ the natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism

Adaptation ~ The action or process of adapting or being adapted

Biotic ~ A living thing (same as organism)

Abiotic ~ A non-living thing

Community ~ A group of organisms living in the same place

Population ~ All the inhabitants of a particular town, area, or country

Decomposition ~ The state or process or rotting

Energy ~ The strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity

Food Web ~ A system of interlocking and interdependent food chains

Energy Transfer ~ The conveyance of energy from one item to another
