"Efendim eşiniz Bayan Makenna hastanemizde doğum yapmaktadır. Buraya gelebilir misiniz?"
Baba olacağını öğrenen Thomas heyecanından kekeleyerek
"Peka.. Pekala Bay Robert hemen geliyorum." dedi.
Thomas yapmakta olduğu işi -köpek kulübesini onarıyordu- hemen bırakıp arabasına koştu. Kontağı çalıştırdı ve Handerson Hastanesine doğru gitmeye başladı. Koşar adımlarla danışma bölümüne gittekten sonra
"Merhabalar. Eşim Makenna , Bayan Makenna bu hastane doğum yapmaktaymış kaçıncı katta olduğunu öğrenebilir miyim?" dedi.
Danışman
"3.Katta sağ..." danışman cümlesini tamamlamadan Thomas teşekkür edip koşar adımlarla merdivenlere yöneldi. 3.kata vardığında Doktor Robert onu ameliyathanenin girişinde beklemekteydi. Thomas Doktor'un yanına gittiğindeyse.
"Kızım doğdu mu?" dedi Doktor'a .
Doktor
"Hayır efendim , kızınız değil ama nur topu gibi bir oğlunuz dünyaya geldi" dedi.
Thomas
"Önemli olan cinsiyeti değil. Önemli olan sağlıklı olması peki oğlum sağlıklı mı ?"
"Oğlunuzun sağlığı gayet yerinde efendim. Telaşlanmanıza gerek yok." dedi Doktor
Thomas
"Peki. Eşimin sağlığı yerindemi Doktor?"
"Her ikisininde sağlığı yerinde merak etmeyiniz."
...
Aradan 2 gün geçmişti. Makenna ile Thomas oğullarını evlerine götürmüşlerdi. Herkes evdeydi : Anneanne , Babaanne , Dedeler , Amcalar ve sayamadığımız nice akrabalar toplanmıştı Bob'un başına. İsmini koyma derdine girmediler , çünkü ismi daha doğmadan konmuştu.
