A rhinoceros, also known as the rhino. Rhinoceros is two Greek words , 'rhino' meaning nose and 'ceros' meaning horn combine to create the word rhinoceros. There are five extinct species of rhino- the White rhino and the Black rhino (found in Africa), the Indian rhino, the Javan rhino, and the Sumatran rhino (found in Asia). Some people think rhino horns is useful medically. That is why some species of rhino are extinct or endangered, people kill rhino for what they think is medicine. In the wild, adult rhinoceros have few predators other than human. Young rhinos can fall prey to predators such as big cats, crocodiles, wild dogs, and hyena.
Did you know that a group of rhinoceros is called crash? Rhino have fantastic hearing and a great sense of smell, but have terrible eyesight. They will struggle to spot something further than 30m away.
