İngilizler, Kut şehrinde sıkışıp kalan askerlerini kurtarmak adına dünyanın ilk havadan ikmalini denemiş fakat başarılı olamamıştı. Bunun üzerine yeni bir çözüm arayışında olan İngilizler, erzak dolu bir gemiyi yardım götürmek üzere yola çıkardı. Julnar isimli bu gemi, Türk topçuları ve istihkâmcılarından kaçamayıp karaya oturdu. Ele geçirilen gemiye "Kendi Gelen" ismi verildi. Günler sonra da İngilizler, çaresiz bir şekilde Türk askerine teslim oldu.
