Justification
We will not be using newspaper ads to promote MamaTone. We have decided against using them as we think that other methods such as social media advertising is more effective in this day and age as fewer people are buying newspapers, especially new mothers. According to ‘News Media Alliance’, the average age of people reading newspapers is 57.6, which is way above the normal age that people decide to have children at. Furthermore, social media advertisement can link them directly to our website with one touch of a button rather than people seeing the advert, thinking about it and then forgetting about it because they are reading the rest of the newspaper.
We will also not be investing in bus interior ads. Although they are cheap and only around £250, they are very ineffective due to new developments on buses in the local area. Now, nearly every bus has free WiFi on-board which means most people under the age of 40 will be too busy looking at their phones than looking around the bus interior and taking note of our adverts. For this reason, we decided against using bus interior ads.
We will be investing heavily in social media advertisement due to the growing reliance on technology and social media. Our target market simply won’t be interested in old fashioned forms of advertisement such as newspapers and interior bus ads and any money saved on those ads is just re-invested back into ads such as leaflets and radio ads.
To conclude, we are focusing heavily on new methods of advertisement as we don’t want to target the wrong target market with our forms of advertising as MamaTone isn’t a huge business and it can’t be wasting money on methods that are unlikely to work.
