The carvings on the ancient weapons of ancestors were made by the Goddess Lady Sburb. The carvings relate to the classes and aspects both wielders have. Of course, when it comes to ancestors you both have the same aspect, but no same class. The carvings will mention things that ancestors did/believed in. It will also reference things that the descendent used to do or things they still do. Though for this summoning to work, they must have inherited a few their ancestor's personality traits and beliefs. For example, The Intimate is a Prince of Blood, which means he destroys connections. For his descendant, Darius Ichorr, he is a Mage Of Blood, who suffers from connections. In the carvings on Intimate's scythe, it reads, "As I raise this Scythe high, may I dance with you tonight? I have broken, I have cursed about those who do not have worth. I have no longer hold the name of Wirth. This dance of death, this dance of wrath, it will end with a bloodbath." In the first line, Darius offers the spirit of the Intimate to 'dance', or connect I suppose. In the next line, it states one of the Intimate's beliefs. He breaks off everyone he believes is unworthy, which Darius would have to learn to do. The line after that, "I have no longer hold the name of Wirth. ", it references a bit of Darius' problem. Of course, I didn't state this earlier but the carvings will also mention some of the descendant's problems. The descendant will have to overcome that problem, along with inheriting some of the beliefs their ancestors had. Later on the last line, "This dance of death, this dance of wrath, it will end with a bloodbath.", It is the line to finally summon them for battle.
