So.... It's over....
First off, taken on its own I thought that it was a good episode. Some excellent speeches, the reasoning behind decisions was pretty good and I laughed a few times. I'm sad that it's over but we knew this day would come and I thought that over all, after this shitshow that was the final season, there was some decent closure.

Now, not taking the episode on its own, and as part of the whole story... What the fuck... Why is Bran King. He is not Bran, he is The Three Eyed Raven. We have been told for 2 seasons that he does not care for the present. His purpose is to keep a record of the world and pass it onto the next Three Eyed Raven.
Yes they alluded to this in the meeting stating that he would not father a son, but that means that they have at least another 30/40 years of a King who gives little to 0 shits about the people who he is residing over (and who come after this? The openly laughed at open elections so we're back to square one with the most popular/fearful lord being make king). This would also be fine as he told Tyrion that he will fix everything that he broke by being Hand of the Kind, but we have been told all this season that Tyrion is a fucking idiot who has got every single strategic decision incorrect. So logically this means the realm is going to devolve into another war eventually possibly caused by my next point.
Onto my biggest gripe. Why is the North independent? They defended against the White Walkers, great, but why does Dorne still have to subjugate, they were semi-autonomous before, now all of a sudden they are in the 6 kingdoms and the North goes free? And you mean to tell me that they make a son of Ned Stark King, he frees the North and not a single one of the other houses says ANYTHING about favoritism at the meeting?? Bronn literally said a few episodes ago "That’s how all the great houses started, isn’t it, with a hard bastard who was good at killing people. Kill a few hundred people – they make you a lord. Kill a few thousand – they make you king." Bronn likes killing people, he is charismatic and can talk people into killing others. Why wouldn't he revolt to gain even more land? THEY MADE HIM MASTER OF COIN!?!?!? The only man who we have seen can be bought is in charge of the coin for the realm?? I mean I should be surprised but Tyrion is a fucking idiot now so why not.
Again, I thought it was as good as of a send off as we could expect from the show at this point but I'm just... disappointed. There was some great moments, Peter Dinklage again proved why he is one of the best actors out there with what he was given tonight. His scenes in the underground finding his siblings, talking to Jon and at the Lords meeting were excellent. I laughed when Edmund was told to STFU and the small council meeting was funny, but the episode just felt... flat. I mean I haven't even talked about Danny, that would be a whole other rant.
I've said it to a few people now but I will definitely have to proper read the books and hope that GRRM brings out the last few. I feel that the misgivings of the last 2/3 seasons could be forgiven if the writers had more time to get everything out and although I have no doubt that the end of the books will hit the same beats I am sure that GRRM will tell them differently so that the arcs of the characters make more sense and doesn't result in people taking wild 90° turn in the last book just to get the story done.
