Nato in Belgio nel 1980, Etienne Walhain è, dal 2005, organista titolare degli organi Ducroquet e Merklin della Cattedrale di Notre-Dame di Tournai (B).
Dopo la prima studiato pianoforte e organo con Zbigniew Kruczek, entrò al Conservatorio Reale di Mons (B), dove ha vinto il primo premio di scrittura, organo e musica da camera in classi di JP Deleuze S Detournay e Guy Van Waas. Si entra poi Conservatorio di Lione nella classe organo di Louis Robilliard esce possesso di un costo di sviluppo iniziale.
Nel 1998, ha incontrato Jean Guillou con cui ha lavorato a Zurigo e Parigi fino al 2008. Su consiglio di quest'ultimo, Etienne Walhain accede alla classe d'organo di Jean-Jacques Kasel al Conservatorio della Città di Lussemburgo, dove ottiene il diploma superiore di organo nel 2002.
Come improvvisatore, ritorna alla tradizione dei film muti che accompagna al pianoforte o all'organo. Appassionato di letteratura, Etienne Walhain ama anche unire le sue due passioni creando diversi progetti artistici che combinano improvvisazione e poesia o teatro.
Per diversi anni, ha intrapreso una carriera concertistica in Europa, Russia, Canada e Stati Uniti.
