Purposive communication is always done with a purpose in mind. It must require a lot of thinking and making sure that almost everytime we communicate, we must think thoroughly and make sure it has a purpose. What do I want to come out of this interaction? How do I reach that goal with my communication? What are all the possible reactions to what I plan to say, not just the desired reaction that I want from the other person?What did s/he mean just now when s/he said that? What else could it mean? What else? Why would they say it - what’s their motivation, their potential gain, big or small, for saying it? When we take the time to really think things through, especially prepping for important situations or dealing with important relationships, we should handle all those times with careful purpose. Purposive communication would be to pause a beat, think about what just happened, and consider carefully the impact of your words on the person and how it might affect them personally.

It is often said that if there is a problem one should talk it out, if there is a moment of happiness then share it, if you are sad and low then tell it to someone close to you. Communication is of utmost importance in any given situation. It strengthens the bond between people. Roles of an effective communication is important in order to fully understand and more or less trust the person you are talking to.

Effective Communication eases anxiety of the patients and eliminates more possibilities for mistakes, and lets each party know what is expected of them it also helps the care worker to communicate and use their skills to meets the service user’s rights and needs. We must understand the importance of communication at various levels. Communication is important for putting ones opinions across and also for understanding that of the other.
