Connective Tissue like blood and bones connect different organs or parts of the body.
Epithelial tissue is a thin membranous tissue that covers the internal and external surfaces of the body.
Muscle Tissue provides movement for the body. There is smooth muscle tissue, which is lined in the digestive tract and allows food to pass through smoothly. Skeletal muscle tissue is connected to the bones and allow for movement of the body. Cardiac muscle tissue is only located in the heart and allows the heart (that is a giant muscle) to pump blood to circulate throughout the body.
Nervous tissue is the main component of the nervous system. They conduct electrical impulses to allow for communication throughout the body.
Epiglottis is the flap of skin that rests over your trachea when you swallow, acting as protection so food doesn't enter and block the windpipe.
The Trachea is the windpipe. The Pharynx is a membrane-lined cavity that connects your mouth and nasal cavities to the esophagus. The Larynx is the voice box. (Do I need to know this??)
The parietal cells in the digestive system produce hydrochloric acid that aid pepsin. Pepsin is produced by chief cells and breaks down proteins.
Amylase is produced in the Pancreas and breaks down carbohydrates into starches and sugar.
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
Blood travels through the Right Atrium, through the tricuspid valve, into the Right Ventricle. There, it is pumped into the lungs (left and right) through the pulmonary valve. The blood receives oxygen and re-enters the heart through the pulmonary veins. It goes into the Left Atrium before it is let into the Left Ventricle by the Mitral valve. It is then pumped into the Aorta by the Aortal valve where the blood is distributed throughout the body. The blood re-enters the heart after circulating the body through the superior (top) Vena Cava and the Inferior (bottom) Vena Cava, where they then enter the Right Atrium and the cycle restarts.
The Interventricular Septum is the wall that separates the ventricles from each other.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
Air enters the body via the nose and mouth. It then travels town the Pharynx and larynx, into the trachea before going into the bronchi. Here, the Bronchi splits and separates into two lungs, the Left Lung and Right Lung. The Right Lung is bigger with 3 sections; Upper, Middle, and Lower lobes. The Left Lung only has 2 sections; Upper and Lower lobes. The Bronchi then splits further into many Bronchioles. At the end of these Bronchioles are Alveoli (one alveolus each). This is where gas exchange takes place. The oxygen enters the Alveoli and diffuses into the red blood cells in the capillaries. At the same time, carbon dioxide waste from the capillaries enter the bronchioles where they are expelled out through exhalation.
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Food enters the mouth where it's chemically and mechanically broken down via teeth and saliva. Then, it travels down the esophagus through peristalsis. After that, it reaches the stomach where it is broken down by stomach acid, along with Pepsin and Hydrochloric Acid. Bile also breaks down large fat blobs and is produced in the liver and stored in the Gall Bladder. Once the stomach has finished digesting the food, it is a thick liquid called chyme. It is then passed into the small intestine (duodenum and ileum/jejunum). Here, the nutrients and minerals are absorbed
