Care of Magical Creatures adalah ilmu yang mempelajari tentang mengenal, merawat, dan memelihara satwa gaib.
Penyihir yang mempelajari satwa gaib disebut Magizoologist. Sedangkan yang mempelajari naga secara khusus disebut Dragonologist.
Contoh beberapa Magizoologist adalah :
• Newt Scamander
• Rubeus Hagrid
• Luna Lovegood
Kementerian Sihir secara langsung mengawasi Satwa Gaib. Didalam Kementerian Sihir, ada lembaga khusus yaitu Departemen Pengaturan dan Pengawasan terhadap Satwa Gaib.
Yang lalu melakukan klasifikasi pada 3 kelompok Satwa Gaib yaitu :
• Being (contohnya : House-Elf)
• Beast (contohnya : Phoenix)
• Spirit (contohnya : Banshee atau Hantu)
Kementerian sihir memiliki peraturan khusus untuk melindungi Satwa Gaib. Contohnya, jika seseorang ingin memiliki Satwa Gaib, dirinya harus mempunyai sertifikat izin kepemilikan dari Kementerian.
Ministry of Magic sendiri membedakan klasifikasi satwa-satwa tersebut menjadi beberapa tingkatan yang disebut KKM.
X : Membosankan
XX : Tidak berbahaya & mampu dijinakkan
XXX : Mampu ditangani penyihir handal
XXXX : Berbahaya / butuh penanganan khusus dan penanganan ahli
XXXXX : Dikenal sebagai pembunuh penyihir atau mustahil untuk dijinakkan / dilatih
