The first big idea is that you have to be precise in what you tell the robot, or what you program it, to do. This is because a robot is designed to do exactly what its told to do. Nothing more or nothing less. So if a robot isn't doing what you want it to do, its because you aren't telling it what to do, precisely

The second big idea is that robots use sensors, program, and action to carry out things that robots can do. As we know that you have to be precise when programming we know that a robot will do what its told. However, a sensor gives the robot a way to intake the world around it. The robot can then take that information and put it through the program. If the program states to do a certain action when a certain input is run then the robot will carry out the action.

The third big idea is that it is important to understand the system or way the program runs and to have a modelization of how the robot or computer will read or respond to it. These important systems include sequence and repetition and understanding how they work through the computer with our own model can help predict how the computer or robot will read the code. Thus making us a better coder or programmer.

The fourth big idea is to break down big problems into smaller problems, then to solve each one and build a solution for the big problems. This applies in coding and robotics when faced with a challenge, we can split the challenge into smaller, manageable, parts and solve each one to create a solution in the end. This way of thinking helps to create solutions for big challenges by making them simpler and easier to solve one by one.

Lastly, all of these ideas are not just a thing in robotics. They are a way of thinking called computational thinking. Computational thinking starts with decomposition or breaking down a problem into smaller parts, to divide up a task to find a solution. Then we try to recognize patterns within these smaller parts to see what kind of similarities and differences there are. In robotics, this would be a way to find one sensor that applies to all of the parts or a combination of them and the program and action we could use. Next, abstraction is the process of narrowing down these patterns into ideas, and groups to become more specific. To find a common solution for all of the parts. Finally, we put all the parts together to generate an algorithm that can solve problems like the problem in a organized way. This all applies to robotics as we use the same computational thinking process when programming a robot to overcome a problem.
