Instinct between all humans is basicly law vs order or evil vs good. law vs anarchy. raplh symbolizes order. jack represents savagry and desire for power. author implies that the instinct of savagry is far more primal to human psyche than the civilization. civilization foreces moral behavior onto the indivitual rather than a natural instinct. When left on thier own people truely naturaly revert to savargy and barbarism.
Loss of Innocence
most points covered in Civilization vs. Savagery. Author implies that civilization can mitigrate but never wipe out the intiate evil that exists within all human beings. forest glade symbolizes loss of innocence. goes from natural beauty to bloodied up sows head

The Conch Shell
The Shell becomes a symbol of civilization and order. it governs them. it has political power. shell loses power as island decends into savagery. when the shell is crushed by the stone it signiftinf the demise of civilized instinct.
Piggy's Glasses
glasses represent science and intellectual endevor in society.
Signal Fire
is a barometer for the boys connection to civilization. when fire burns low or goes out we relize their desire to be resqued and accepted their savage lives.
The Beast
beast stangs for primal instinct of savagry that exists between all humans. Boys are afraid of the beast. they fear the beast becuase it exist between each one of them. as boys become more savage the fear of the beast groms stronger. by the end of the novel they boys are making sacrifices and treating it like a god. The more savage the boys act the more real the beast seems to be.
