Doğu konferansı yarı finallerinin üçüncü maçı adeta izleyenleri ekrana kilitledi.
65 yıl sonra ilk defa bir maç tam dört defa uzatmaya gitti bu olay daha önce 1953-1954 sezonunda Boston Celtics-Syracuse Nationals maçında olmuştu.
Maçın geneline bakacak olursak bu maçta Portland cephesinde liderlik koltuğunda Lillard yerine McCollum vardı. McCollum, 60 dakika parkede ter döktü ve (16/39) 41 sayı kaydetti. Lillard ise kritik anlarda bulduğu basketlerle takımını canlandırsa da 58 dakikada (10/24) 28 sayı bulabildi. Ancak fişi çeken isim Rodney Hood oldu. Hood, 4. periyottan beri oyun dışında olduğu için 4. uzatma devresine enerjik bir şekilde girdi ve hiç kaçırmadan takımına tam 7 sayılık katkı sağladı. Hood'un son dakikalardaki performansının da etkisiyle Portland Maçı 140-137 kazandı ve seride durumu 2-1'e getirdi. Denver tarafında ise Murray ve Jokic takımı sırtlamaya çalıştı ancak bu yeterli olmadı. Jokic'in 65 dakika parkede kalması ise maçın göze çarpan detaylarından biri oldu.
