- roman kahramanlarının başında geçenleri anlatırken,
- tahmin cümlelerinde,
- dilek cümleleri (cümlenin başına mögen fiilini konjunktiv 1 şeklinde ekleyerek)
z.B: Mögen der Beste gewinnen: En iyi olan kazansın.
- naziklik: cümlede mögen fiilini konjunktiv 1 kullanarak rica anlamı verilebilir.
- emir kipi (imperativ): sollen ve müssen filleri konjunktiv 1 kullanılarak emir kipi aktarılabilir.

Tüm fillerin çekimi bu kurala göre yapılır.
*Düzensiz çekilen filler Konjunktiv 1'ta düzensiz çekimlenmez. Konjunktiv 1 çekimleme kuralı geçerli olur.
* Konjunktiv 1'ta sadece Perfekt kullanılır. Prateritum kullanılmaz.

şimdiki zaman: gegenwart
Ersetzungsregel:
Bir fillin normal yazılışı ile Konjunktiv 1 yazılışı aynı ise, fillin Konjunktiv 2 hali kullanılır.
* Eğer konjunktiv 2 de prateritum ile aynı ise würde+infinitiv (şimdiki zaman) kullanılır.
Elimizdeki cümlede Konjunktiv 2 varsa fiile hiç dokunmadan karşıdakine cümleyi aktarabiliriz.
Eğer aktaracağımız cümlede möchten kullanılmış ise başkasına aktarma (indirekte rede) yaparken wollen fiili kullanılır.
* Eğer indirekte rede yapılırken ana cümle ve yan cümlenin özneleri aynı ise ya da ana cümlenin nesnesi ile yan cümlenin öznesi aynı ise; konjunktiv 1 kullanılmadan da cümle aktarılabilir.
z.B: Er behauptet, er habe keine Zeit
Er behauptet, keine Zeit zu haben
Martin sagte, ich solle nicht so neugerig sein.
Martin forderte mich auf, nicht so neugerig zu sein. (nesne: mich, özne: ich)
