1. Kumite, dibagi menjadi individu dan beregu. Untuk individu diadakan kelas berdasarkan berat badan, sementara beregu (putra) tidak ada kelas berdasarkan berat badan. Waktu pertandingannya adalah 2 sampai 3 menit secara bersih untuk 1 babak. Dan diadakan 1 babak perpanjangan jika seri. Namun, 1 babak perpanjangan ini tidak berlaku untuk pertandingan kumite beregu.
2. Karate memiliki 4 gaya utama, yaitu Shotokan, Goju-Ryu, Shito-Ryu dan Wado-Ryu. Dan, dibagi menjadi dua aliran yaitu aliran tradisional yang menekankan aspek bela diri serta tempur, dan aliran olahraga menumpukan teknik-teknik untuk olahraga.
3. Japan Karatedo Federation (JKF) adalah badan pengatur olahraga karate nasional di Jepang, yang secara resmi berafiliasi dengan Asosiasi Olimpiade Jepang, Federasi Karate Dunia, Asosiasi Olahraga Jepang dan Asosiasi Budo Jepang.
4. Shotokan memiliki 25 kata, Wado memiliki 17 kata, Goju memiliki 12 kata, dan Shito-ryu yaitu 30 sampai 40 kata, lebih banyak dari aliran lain.
5. Sangat penting, untuk melindungi diri dari bahaya atau kejahatan yang datang dari luar.
