Apex Legends Update on Iron Crown Event Controversy!

Hey guys sethly here back with another apex legends video. I hope your all having a fantastic day. In this video Im going to be covering the new statement that was just released by the ceo of respawn, vince zampella. So if you haven't been on the apex subreddit recently then you might not know about the storm thats been brewing in the community that was caused by some statements made by a respawn developer on the subreddit. The respawn developer that caused the uproar goes by dko5. Before I explain what happened and go over the new statement, if you enjoy the video then make sure to hit that like button and if your new to the channel then hit that sub button and turn on that notification bell for daily apex videos.

Lets get right into it, starting off with a brief summary of what happened leading up to the statement that came out today. Respawn made an announcement about the Iron Crown Event, addressing the complaints from the community about the prices of the cosmetics and packs. They basically said that they are sorry and they are learning from the mistake and they will have changes made to the structure of events before the next one is released as well as they are now adding the event skins into the store instead of only in packs. I think what they said was a great statement, however, where it went wrong was in the replies to this announcement. Ill link the post down in the description, and ill show the replies on screen, as you can see the respawn dev dko5 had a lot to say as there were about 20 replies from him addressing complaints, questions, and a couple other things.

I don't want this video to be super long so Ill show a few of the replies that caused the community to react with many, many, reddit posts regarding the disrepectful way Dko5 was talking. Before I cover some of the main replies made, I want to let you guys know that I think nobody is really in the right here. I personally think that what the dev said was definitely in poor taste and is not the way a dev should address complaints from the community. But I also think a lot of the community was overreacting in some aspects. Mainly, I think people overreacted with the hate towards respawn because of what one developer said. I just don't think these statements alone make Respawn a bad dev team. With that out of the way, here are some of the main statements made by dko5. As you can see, this dev went as far as calling people in the community freeloaders, asshats, as well as telling people not be a dick. There are a lot more replies, but im sure you guys get the picture.

After these replies were made, the reddit went insane with backlash, articles started popping up everywhere but today we finally got a statement on the situation from Vince Zampella himself. Here is what he said. "On Friday, we gave apex fans an update on how we were changing the Iron Crown Event. Some of the team then joined a discussion with out community on reddit, and things got to a pretty bad place. Some of our folks crossed a line with their comments, and that's not how we want Respawn to be represented. I apologize to any of our fans that were offended. I will always stand behind the team here at Respawn and support them on speaking out against some of the toxic and nasty comments being directed at them, including everything from death threats to comments aimed at their family and loved ones. But we shouldn't contribute to to it when we do comment, and add to the very thing we want to prevent. We need to lead by example. Last week we didn't do that, and going forward we will be better. Having an open, healthy relationship with our community is incredibly important to all of us at Respawn."

Thats pretty much everything about this situation and overall I think it was blown out of proportion. The community definitely overreacted because the game is free and the outrageous prices are only on cosmetics and not real content, however, the store and prices definitely need some adjustments. But in the end, the respawn developer was 100% in the wrong and it is respawn's responsibility to be professional and keep a good relationship with the community. Although, this past week has been full of poor communication, Respawn has been doing amazing lately with staying in contact with the community.

This whole situation has been pretty bad and the community has a right to be mad but I don't think its necessary to be toxic towards respawn. Thats just my thoughts on the situation, definitely let me know what you guys think, down in the comment section below. If you enjoyed the video then hit that like button, it really does help me out. And if youre new to the channel then make sure to hit that sub button and turn on that notification bell, its the best way to support the channel. Its been your boy sethly, and im out.
