what is transpiration? - transpiration is the loss of water in the lower part of the leaf
importance of transpiration? - 1. Transpiration removes heat from the leaf/ keeps the leaf cool.
2. Transpiration causes water to be pulled up from the root of a plant, through
the xylem to the upper parts of the plant.
3. due to transpiration, water moves to the leaf, which then is eventually used
for photosynthesis
what is transpirational pull? - when there is a lack of water in the leaf, the plant creates a force which pulls up the water through the xylem vessel.
Factors affecting transpiration -
1. temperature - high temperature causes the water molecules to gain kinetic energy, due to that the molecules move faster and gets lost from the leaf, transpiration rate increases.
2.Light intensity - more light on the plant causes the stomata to open more frequently, due to this more water is lost through the stomata, transpiration rate increases.
3. wind - increasing wind causes the plant to move more which means the water molecules gain kinetic energy, therefore water molecules are lost from the leaf and transpiration rate increases.
4. Humidity - More H20 presence in leaves causes less h20 loss therefore transpiration rate decreases.

What is translocation? - translocation is the movement of sucrose, amino acids and hormones through the phloem.
