SUMMARY (231 WORDS):
On Thursday (1st of August) me and many of my LEAP classmates (and other Ohio state students in general) decided to visit the German Village in order to complete one of our required OIA events. The exact name of the event was "Exploring Columbus neighborhoods: German Village". The event was supposed to start at 5pm and end at 7:30pm. Just in case, me and my Siebert Hall roommate Sida arrived at the Ohio Union Center a little bit earlier (I'd say at around 4:40pm) so that we aren't late for this relatively complex event (in comparison to the "Kroger grocery shopping" event). Since the German Village was relatively far away from campus, we actually had to take a bus ride , and for many of us that was the first time we took the bus (because we walked during the Kroger event, if I'm not mistaken). Once we finally arrived, our group leaders showed us multiple locations and tourist attractions of rich history. For instance, we visited a shop that makes its own sweets and traditional bakery products for many years. After that, we were walking for a bit, and we stopped at a local place which sells mostly German traditional food (hence the name "German village"). At the end we visited a local book store which had a wide variety of different books (and comics, even the Japanese ones).
REFLECTION (200 WORDS):
I personally really enjoyed this event because the German village had a genuine "German vibe" to it. For instance, the cookies and sweets found in the first shop we visited truly had unique recipes which I assume come from Germany. I was actually one of the few people who bought and tried some of the local cookies (sadly I can't remember the name). When we stopped at the eating place I even bought a sandwich which was clearly "German". My LEAP friend Erik (or Erick, I don't know the exact spelling) also bought the same sandwich so that we could enjoy the experience together. Unfortunately, neither of us liked it. In fact, I disliked it so much that I had to throw it away. Yes, it was that bad (in my PERSONAL opinion). Ultimately, I even bought a Japanese novel (I bought it from the local book store). Overall I had a pretty unpredictable experience where I socialized with many of my fellow LEAP colleagues, so I'd say that I'll definitely remember this event for a long time. I even posted a photo from "The Book Loft of German Village", and it can be found at my instagram page @eternalshady00.
