Hatched in the city of Djerad Thymar in the Dragonborn state of Tymanther, Greskan followed in the traditions of the Kepeshkmolik clan and was trained as a soldier from the age of 12. At age 14 he was attacked by a member of the Clan Daardendrien who was a cleric in training, This interaction lead to a lifelong distrust and uneasyness towards magic users and the Platinum Cadre clans. After turning 17 his legion was dispatched to reinforce previous troops and help defend the border lands from Hobgoblin and Orc encroachment.

Three years of repelling small raiding parties culminated in a 6 month campaign into Goblin lands to destroy settlements and exert control over long disputed territory. While following a retreating raiding party the phalanx was ambushed and massacred by a combined force of Orcs and Goblins lead by the cleric who had attacked Greskan when he was younger. Twelve members of the nearly 5000 strong force survived and were able to retreat from the valley where the massacre happened, only to find themselves once again surrounded and cut off from a route to friendly territory . The group attempted to break out but suffered more losses and were pushed further toward the west and away from Dragonborn territory. The group suffered casualties over the next month until only two remained. The pair of soldiers continued southwest towards the city of Neverwinter. The duo crossed into the safety of neutral territory only for Greskan,s clanmate, the standard bearer to succumb to several arrow wounds. Greskan packed the banner of his legion and set off to the city of Neverwinter, vowing to find a way to return to his homeland to continue his fight against the enemies of the empire.
