Notes - notes.io

Hello all, I am 11 years old. It is 9:53 pm right now (british time) so please ignore and spelling mistakes, bad use of punctuation, ect. I have trouble sleeping most nights, I am sure I get it from my Dad (Father whatever you want to call him) he works nights. So he has not a lot of sleep like about 1-4 hours each night (Yep I know)But am not here to write about my dad today/tonight, I am here to give tips to children around the world who get no sleep on school nights. First of all, I am Lucy. Many specialists recommend certain hours of sleep for different age groups. 5-8 year olds are usually energized when they have around 8-10 hours of sleep. 8-10 year olds are meant to have around 8-9 hours of sleep, adults are meant to get 6-8 hours of sleep. But that is VERY wrong in my opinion. I am sure many children who struggle to sleep will agree with me. Personally, I think that it is not a big deal if a child has hardly no sleep, because everyone can feel tired at times. It isn't the end of the world. Sometimes you just have to think: 'well, I can't go back to bed now, I had my chance to sleep and I weren't tired so i'll just sleep tonight instead or when I get home from school/work.' and for children who suffer with anxiety (not many children, but I do so I will understand) can start to worry as time ticks by and they're still not asleep. Children that worry about certain things say school? Well I know for a fact they sleep perfectly fine on weekends or holidays. Because there mind is not thinking 'uh oh I will be really tired tommrow' or 'I wont be able to focus'. It is just going with the flow. There minds our just staying up until they feel like they want to sleep. Although on weekdays, that's not usually the case. Children 'force' themselves to sleep basically. Like they try their hardest to get to sleep around 10:00pm whe on weekends they might not get to sleep till 3:00am. Because their body is not having it's usual hours of being awake. Their body would be used to going to sleep at 3:00am, waking up at 12:00pm, staying in bed till 1:00, then going back to bed that night at 3:00am again. It's like a big circle I guess. So if your body was used to going to sleep at 8pm it would always drift to sleep at 8pm. same for any other time. So I guess it is basically up to you what time you fall asleep BUT DO NOT WORRY!! You can always change the time your wants to sleep. Yes, it may take a few days, but it will work. Just rest your head around the time you want to go to sleep. like I would say 10pm AT THE MAX! Then eventually your body will be bored and tired so you will fall asleep. But it will take a while to fall asleep, and when this happens people start to worry. They will feel like they have been sat in bed for a while and they'll know they're not asleep yet. So don't let that time get to you. It is okay if you become tired for a day. Now here are some tips on how to gain more sleep and how to stop anxiety when in bed.
So first I think that if you were looking to go to sleep around 10-10:30pm you should turn of all electronics around 9-9:30pm. Keeping away from electronics will help you settle down easier. Theres no noise coming from videos, there is no bright light coming from the screen and there is no distractions from sleep. If you like to listen to meditation at night or music, ect. I recommend that you turn you brightness down and set your volume just right. And please make sure you don't keep looking at your phone to see how long it has been (to see how long the meditation has been on for) because it tends to unfocus your mind you could say? If ypu like to set alarms, have water near you when sleeping cuse of sore throat or may need the toilet make sure you do all that before hopping into bed. Make sure your alarms are set, your waters fresh and full, and your bladder is empty. This will stop you from walking outside to see bright lights and walk and just change the atmosphere. Also make sure your blinds are shut and make sure your in a comfortale position. If you have a mediation you always listen to, but it takes you a while to get into it, I suggest finding a new one and trying different ones each night.
