Summaries

Chapter 1
They are sitting in there dining room. They army was there.

Chapter 2
No one is going to buy from Jews. School was cancelled. Germans are marching in the streets. The germans closed a lot of things like libraries, schools, movie theaters. The jews have a curfew.


Chapter 3
There wall was being walled up and they let another family in.

Chapter 4
They snuck out after curfew. They went to Uncle Abrahams Bakery.

Chapter 5
They are fixing a pigeon coop and they are going to live in there.

Chapter 6
They live in the pigeon coop. There was a meeting and seven-thousand jews has to be taken. It was Yaneks Bar mitzvah.

Chapter 7
They Nazis are shooting old people and sick people. And they said there going to liquidation the whole ghetto.

Chapter 8
He went to his friends house instead of straight home. He thought he saw his parents in the deep dementation. His parents are being taken to a concentration camp. He felt sad inside and outside. He wanted to turn himself in but instead he wanted to survive.

Chapter 9
He had been taken by the Nazis.He wanted to escape but it was either die or get on the truck. He was at the concentration camp working. And because he called out to Uncle Moshe someone else got beaten with a club. His parents are most likely dead.

Chapter 10
Yanek had a new job assigned and he went back to the ghetto, that was his new job to clean the ghetto. And he went to his old apartment on the rooftop and he remembered that his mother sewed one-thousand zloty into his coat. And he got into his father's coat and his coat.

Chapter 11
Uncle Moshe was shot and had died. Moshe hid the money and Yanek don't know where the money is. There's a rumor that the Germans abandoned their pact and was at war with each other.

Chapter 12
They found a hiding space in the floor and almost got caught. He also has some friends Thomas and Isaac.

Chapter 13
He got another job at a salt factory. And the person that was showing them around was the one that took off his mother's ring. Then someone hit him with a shovel and put salt in his skin and had to thrown him in the salty lake.
Chapter 14
He had a new job to move rock to one place and then move it right after that. Somebody fought back and then got shot with a pistol. And since someone died with a fight somebody else is going down to.
Chapter 15
They went into a really small cattle car. Yanek couldn't breathe and so didnt another man but he got shot. He was back in his hometown.He had to eat some snow. They were going to a death camp in Birkenau. And a dead person is also standing up on him and another person is sleeping on him.
Chapter 16 They were there in Birkenau. The Nazis sent there in a gas chamber and then he thought they was going to die. But all that came out was cold,cold water.
Chapter 17
They got new clothes and haircuts and tattoo that says “B-3087”.He hopes he survives.
Chapter 18
There was a prison break. All the people that was caught and shot in front of people. They was only 2 minutes in the bathroom.
Chapter 19
There is some new people joining but don't know what coming.They took the wife and the son too the gas chambers and Yanek lied and said that he is 18 and healthy. And the mother is singing and she sings all day and all night.
Chapter 20
Were they dead or dying? Bodies disappear each and every night. A man died right next to him. They actually got to eat something edible.
Chapter 21
They were being moved to a new camp.Prisoners were being tencing around him.
Chapter 22
It was nine days into a long march.He couldn't stop thinking about the Muselmann.
Chapter 23
Three days later he was through the gates of Sachsenhausen.He said cold feels like paradise.
Chapter 24
A bomb hit train and after that the train would keep on going.When the commandant had pulled 75 jews “prisoners”.And took the rest to the barracks. Only the healthier would stay and the non-healthy would leave and probably get shot.
Chapter 25
He got sent to another concentration camp “Buchenwald”. They were scared even at roll call. He was assigned a new job to carry a big pilea rocks and put it someplace other.
Chapter 26
Got sent to another concetration camp “Gross-Rosen”. They took them by train. He was surrounded by dead. Planes flew all above the train.
Chapter 27
It’s a death march. He couldn't survive any longer unless he could get some food. “Moonphase” had a whole thing of bread. And Yanek asked for some bread Moonphase threaten hin then he gave him some.
Chapter 28
There was an explosion nearby they thought they would die. They exploded the cart that had all the document. He lied and said that he wasn't a jew.
Chapter 29
He got sent to another concentration camp “Dachau”.There was no working and some times there was no roll call. Bombs was exploding. The war was ending. The Americans had came in a tank that had an American flag. An American person help him up and asked him name and told him that everything was going to be alright.
Chapter 30
He have been moved to “Munich”. He gets a real barrack to himself. And sheets and pillows and a blanket. And the Americans had gave them body wash a washcloth and then after that he gotta eat a really good meal a meal that he hadn't ate in six-years. His family wasn’t all died. His cousin Isaac and his wife. They said that life had to go on. He’s going to America and going to get a job. It took years to get to America. He changed his name to “Jacob Gruener”.
