Ankylosing Spondylitis seems to be a disease that can completely overtake a person physically. Unfortunately, there is no set cure for this disease. However, there are some ways to help treat the intense pain that can come about by having this autoimmune disease. One specific way that doctors try to help ease the pain of their patients is by prescribing a drug called Naprosyn, which is known as an NSAID (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug). What these types of drugs do is specifically target an enzyme that creates cells called Prostaglandins. Prostiglandins help bring about inflammation in your body that is needed in order to heal a wound or injury you may have. Even though they are working to heal the body, they do bring about pain and other affects that make a person feel not very good. The goal of prescribing this medication is to cut down on the levels of pain and swelling that people with this disease have; ultimately bringing about a bit better quality of life for them.
