A psychic reader’s door is open with a staircase leading up and an automated chair at the bottom.

A tall white man with scraggly stubble and long white hair, clear glasses, brown corduroy jacket, jeans, clear Bluetooth earpiece on left ear. Next to him, a short black lady with unkempt hair, a beige winter jacket, jean skirt, sandals, carrying a large bag on her front and her arms sort of stick straight bouncing up and down as she walks. They are time travelers walking down a busy street, ignored.

A late night talk show that has the slogan: “It’s Happening! Every Night”

With the staircase chair idea, have a woman run into the doorway from the streets, panicked, rushing into safety - the staircase. Falling backwards, almost crab walking up the stairs from fright. And the slow crawl of the chair begins, the camera positioned looking straight out from the seat and up towards the stairs as well - a slow pan that follows the perspective of the chair. As it turns the corner, you can see down the stairs, just a small hint of what she’s running from, each time it turns a corner.

A man opens a wooden door to a long-haired man holding a slain wolfhound, covered head to toe with blood. He begins hysterically sobbing and walks past the man into his home, laying the dog down on the wooden floor and falling to his knees. The sobs and wailing permeate the atmosphere as the man watches this man cry over his dead dog. The crying man leans over his dog, touching his head to the matted fur as the other man watches him from his back, his side. The dog and man begin to meld, assimilating into one being. The idea is an alien phantom consciousness physically inhabiting a temporal space previously stained with extreme trauma in order to trap more people and create more trauma.

An alien species that inhabits temporal spaces of extreme trauma and drugs that induce a feeling of mystery.

Teens all going out and taking drugs that induce the sense of mystery.

What sort of stuff makes us curious? I don't have anything better than introspection to go on, but here are some thoughts:

1. We feel more curious about things that could potentially alter many different beliefs.
2. We feel more curious about things that we feel like we can solve.
3. We feel more curious about things that might give us knowledge other people want but don't have.
4. We feel more curious about things that use the native architecture; that is, the sorts of humiian-level events and personal interactions our minds evolved to deal with.

When My sister and I were preteens, we lived in an apartment building that had coin-op laundry. We discovered that if you put the coins (4 quarters) into the slots and only pushed them in slightly, the washing machines would start without using the coins.

My mom wondered why all of a sudden, my sister and I started offering to do all of the laundry.

We lived in that building for nearly two years and my sister and I would put the laundry in, then sneak off to the corner store to buy cokes and play our favourite pinball machine (Welcome to Xenon). The eight quarters from two loads of laundry went pretty far in 1981.
